Lin Keting, from South China University of Technology, joined iFAIR China Fair Trade Center as part staff and part volunteer. She’s focused on the benefits from fair trade and worked simultaneously on Simple HAUS (a handmade crafts brand and store) and the Desert Island Library Project (Web2.0 share of second-hand bookstore thinking) administrator. In the Summer of 2007 when Lin worked at the University of California Berkeley School of Journalism on a documentary about AIDS she had her first experience outside of the academic ivory tower and was exposed to the margins of society, vulnerable groups and the world of NGOs. Before the 2009 Chinese New Year, she went to western India to do research on local NGOs in rural India, the living conditions for indigenous populations, rural development, craft based development, and the promotion of rural products. In 2007 she attended California State University Los Angeles on an academic exchange program. In 2008, she worked at Shunya Communications and as a research assistant to University of Hong Kong Business School Vice President David Tse.
